Trump’s tariffs poised for Supreme Court |
The debate over the legality of President Donald Trump’s tariffs is destined for the Supreme Court, as many of the president’s top aides have long predicted. On Friday, a federal appeals court ruled that the president does not have the authority to enact sweeping global tariffs under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act. The ruling allows tariffs to remain in place until Oct. 14. The president has made tariffs a cornerstone of his economic agenda — and officials are warning of the ramifications of a ruling that’s out of Trump’s favor. “If we lose the case … it will be the end of the United States,” White House trade adviser Peter Navarro said on Fox News. Expect Trump and his top aides to work closely on this over the next few weeks. — Shelby Talcott |
